A dependable source. A different everyday.

For some families,
water begins
with a walk.

Scroll to follow the journey

The everyday distance

1.5–2 KM+

The distance some families may travel
to reach a dependable source of water.

For women and children in particular, collecting water can become part of everyday life.

One journey. Repeated.

An illustrative journey from home to water, up to 1,800 metres or more.

And tomorrow,
the journey
begins again.

Before the first bore

A water project
doesn't begin
with drilling.

It begins with
verifying the need.

Local knowledge. Verified need.

A considered
beginning.

Our local implementation partner reviews communities before a project is approved. Priority is generally given where:

  1. 01

    Community identified

Approximately 50 or more people can benefit.

  2. 02

    Site inspected

No dependable nearby water source exists.

  3. 03

    Water access verified

Families may travel approximately 1.5–2 km or more.

  4. 04

    Population & distance assessed

Women and children face a significant water-collection burden.

  5. 05

    Project approved

One central project can serve nearby settlements.
